Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 22, 1984.

The only known seal of the village dates from the late 18^th century and shows the barred lion of the counts of Hessen and the letters GPB (for Gericht Patersberg, Patersberg Court). In the arms the letters are replaced by a rooster.

The arms below were proposed in 1956, but never adopted. In the proposal these elements were combined, with only the letter P for the village.
