Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 18, 2001.

The municipality consists of two villages, which is symbolised by the two golden parts in the upper part of the arms. The blue point symbolises the Schlei, which forms a bay into the land. The two rows of pales symbolise the Viking fortress which was situated near Stexwig in the municipality. The blue point also resembles the front of a Viking ship. The base shows a modern sailing boat, for the importance of tourism for the area. The blue and golden are also the colours of land and water as well as the colours of Schleswig.
