Origin/meaning

The church in the arms already appears in the first seal of the town, known since 1308, but dating from the 13th century. On the seal the church does not yet stand on a ground. The oldest known coloured image dates from 1562 and shows the church in the old version. The church was enlarged in 1488, but the new church first appears in arms in the 17th century. The ground appeared in the late 19th century, and in some older images the church is even seen on a small three-topped mountain.
