Origin/meaning
The upper half supposedly shows the arms of the Castropol council, but the council only used the first quarter and in different colours. The second quarter shows mainly the cross of Asturias, in which the town is situated. The lower half shows a cow, a canting symbol from the Latin bos.
The arms first appeared in a publication published between 1895 and 1900.
