Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on ?

The silver chapel refers to the local St. Joseph's chapel. The wavy bar is a canting element for the -bach (stream, brook) part of the name. The oak branch refers to the local forest.

The other half shows the cross of the State of Trier, to which the area historically belonged. The fleur-de-lys is the symbol for St. Mary and refers to the fact that the village was first mentioned as a possession of the Convent of St. Mary in Herford. The miner's tool symbolise the formerly important iron mining.
