LANDWEHRHAGEN

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Göttingen
Incorporated into : 1973 Staufenberg

Wappen von Landwehrhagen/Arms (crest) of Landwehrhagen
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The village was on the border between Braunschweig-Lüneburg and Hessen, and was first mentioned in 1356 as a possession of Braunschweig. The arms thus show the striped lion of Hessen and the golden lion of Braunschweig. The oak tree symbolises the local forests.
