In geteiltem Schild oben von rot und Silber zweimal gespalten und zweimal geteilt, unten in Silber der schwarze Großbuchstabe F (in Fraktur).

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1935 and replaced older arms, granted in 1930. The old arms showed two triangles, the old village sign. As it resembled a star of David, it was forbidden in 1935.

The upper part of the arms are derived from the chequered bend of the Cistercian Order, and symbolises the Rotttenmünster monastery, which owned most of the area for centuries. The whole territory was part of Austria, and the red and silver colours are those of Austria. The lower half simply show a letter F, the town's initial. The arms were officially confirmed again on August 29, 1967.
