CARDEDEU

Region : Catalonia
Province : Barcelona

Cardedeu.png

Official blazon

Escut caironat: d'or, 4 pals de gules; al cap una gaia d'atzur amb un card d'or. Per timbre una corona mural de vila.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 4, 2001.

The arms are canting: they show a "card" (Catalan for "thistle"), and the royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon (four red pales on gold) because the king Jaume I conceded in 1272 the charter and several privileges to the town (e.g. the permission to have fairs and markets, the highroad from Barcelona to Girona passing through the town, etc.).
