Origin/meaning

The castle of Montcada (11th century) became the centre of an important barony, that in 1390 was sold to the city of Barcelona. The arms are the ones of the barons, the Montcada family (Gules, 8 bezants Or placed as 2 pales), and they show too the baron's crown.
