Origin/meaning
Canting arms: they show a "món" (a mound royal in Catalan) and a "mont serrat" (literally "sawed mount"); the stars are a traditional sign of the arms. The history and life of the town has been ever linked to the monastery of Montserrat, the holy mountain of the Catalans, that stands in this municipality; the abbots of Montserrat have been the lords of Monistrol since 1363.
