English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on June 6, 2023.

The green background symbolises the local forest (forest rights recognized by the Court as early as 1557, confirmed in 1678), with a golden crosier indicating the long predominance of the monks of the Notre-Dame de Molesme as lords of Stigny.

The lion is taken from the arms of the Scottish Montcreiffe family who were co-lords of Stigny in the 16th century and helped building the village fortifications in 1570. The bell is taken from the arms of the Bretagne family, co-lords of Stigny at the end of the 17th century, and benefactors of the parish and of the school.
