The arms were granted in 1953.

The oak tree symbolises the forests in the area. The deer is derived from the arms of the Lords of Clettenberg, who ruled the village until 1230. The chequered field is derived from the arms of the Counts of Hohenstein, Lords of Sachsa until 1593.
