Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on August 30, 1995.

The oldest known seal dates form 1825 and shows the local patron saint, St. Anthony of Padua. He remained in the arms until 1939 when new arms were designed.

The new arms showed the eagle of Silezia with symbols for mining and industry and a white cross. The cross was removed after 1945, but restored in the 1990s. In 1995 the cross was again removed.
