Arms of Borovnica

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted on March 1, 2007.

The middle of the settlement Borovnica of today is dominated by a column - remains of the 500 meter long masonry railway viaduct, which was considered among the greatest building achievements of 19th century. The arms of Borovnica show the former viaduct, which was destroyed in World War II.

The previous arms, which were used from 1995-2007 showed the column as well as the viaduct, see image below.

The new arms are a simplified version of the arms that were proposed around 2005, showing the viaduct and in the base a branch of canting blueberries (borovnice) as shown below
