ZR.MS. ABRAHAM VAN DER HULST, NETHERLANDS NAVY

History: A Frigate in Netherlands service 1993-2004. Sold to Chile in 2005 and still in service with the Chilean Navy as Almirante Blanco Encalada.

Official blazon

In zilver een keper van sabel beladen met vijf hulstbladeren, de middelste rechtop en de overige vier in de richting van de keper geplaast, en vergezeld van drie merletten van sabel.

Origin/meaning

The badge show the Arms of Abraham van der Hulst (1619-1666), Vice-Admiral of the Amsterdam Admirality. He distinguished himslef in the First and Second Anglo-Dutch Wars and died in the Four Day Battle on 12 June 1666. He is buried in the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam. The badge was approved on 27 October 1988.
