NO 1830 SQUADRON, FAA

History: First formed in 1943 at Naval Air Station Quonset Point, Rhode Island, USA as a Single Seater Fighter Squadron to serve on HMS Illustrious. Disbanded in 1945. Reformed in 1947 as a Royal Navay Volunteer Reserve Squadron and disbanded in 1957.

Origin/meaning

The Torches indicate that the Squadron was the first to to train in the USA. The Badge was approved on 31 October 1944.
