INFANTRY REGIMENT TENERIFE NO 49, SPANISH ARMY

Spanish Medio partido y cortado. Primero: en campo de azur (azul), dos montes de plata superados por sendas cabezas de canes de sable (negro), perfiladas de plata, arrancadas de gules (rojo) y contornadas. Segundo: en campo de plata, león rampante de gules (rojo), lampasado de oro. Tercero: en campo de azur (azul), moviente del flanco diestro, acantilado de oro, sumado de dos torres almenadas de plata, aclaradas del mismo metal y mazonadas de sable (negro), la de la diestra cimada con la Bandera Nacional; el acantilado a orilla de un mar de azur (azul) con olas de plata por el que navegan dos galeras de oro habilladas de plata. Escusón de oro con la Cruz de Santiago.

Origin/meaning

The First Quarter symbolises the Warriors and Defenders of the Island of Tenerife. The Second Quarter symbolises Vigilance. The Lower part of the Shield symbolises Greatness, Strength and Triumph over the Enemy. The Coss of Santiago symbolises Spanish Arms. The Coat of Arms was approved on 19 December 1990.
