Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on June 30, 2016.
The new arms show the tree from the previous arms (see below). The fleur-de-lys are the symbol of St. Mary and refer to Mariahof and St. Marein. The blue colour was part of the old arms of Mariahof, Perchau, St. Marein and Zeutschach, green was part of the arms of Dürnstein, Kulm and Mariahof.
The previous arms were granted on December 3, 1446.
The arms were granted by King Friedrich IV (as Emperor, Friedrich III). Neumarkt is in Upper Styria, near the border to Carinthia. There are plenty of woods in the mountains, mostly coniferes (due to height and climate), hence the pine tree in the arms.
