Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1555 by Emperor Charles V. The arms are a combination of the Imperial eagle, with the letter F as a symbol for the town. The lower part shows the swan taken from the arms of the Counts of Hanau, who owned and ruled the town until 1341.
