Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 15, 1955.

The birch tree refer to a local legend on a battle near a birch tree (Völkerschlacht der Zukunft am Birkenbaum).

The key is the symbol of St. Peter, patron saint of the State of Köln, to which the area historically belonged.
