Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 18, 1971.

Allendorf is considered a city since 1407, but no forma grant of city rights is known. The oldest seal also dates form the 15th century and shows St. Anthony, the patron saint of the local church. When the municipality applied for arms in 1971 the saint from the seal was chosen. The colours are those of the County Arnsberg, to which the city historically belonged.
