SANT MORI

Region : Catalonia
Province : Girona

Escudo de Sant Mori/Arms (crest) of Sant Mori
Official blazon
Catalan Escut caironat: d'or, una llança de gules posada en pal acostada de 2 rocs d'atzur. Per timbre una corona de marquès.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

These arms have been officially granted on 28th May 1992.

The spear is the attribute of St. Maurice, the local patron saint. The two chess-rooks at both sides are taken from the canting arms of Rocabertí family (a chess-rook is named "roc" in Catalan), lords of the local castle, centre of a barony and, since 1893, of a marquisat (we can see the marquis crown at the top of the arms).
