ELLENBERG

State:Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis):Ostalbkreis (until 1973 Aalen)

Wappen von Ellenberg (Ostalbkreis)/Arms (crest) of Ellenberg (Ostalbkreis)
Official blazon
German In Gold ein aus dem Schildrand wachsender, nach links gewendeter schwarzer Elchkopf.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1924.

The arms show a canting moose (Elch), as the name was supposedly derived from Elchenberg. As no historical arms or seals were known the moose was chosen by the State Archives as a proper symbol, even though there have never been moose in the area.

The arms shown in an album from 1952
