GRÜNWALD

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : München

Grunwald.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

As the municipality had no old arms or seal, the arms were granted on May 17, 1950.

The town is situated in the hills (base of the shield) along the Isar river. The trees are canting (Wald=forest. Grün=green). The small castle symbolises the local hunting lodge, which was built in 1293 and later was rebuilt like a small castle. In the gate the arms of Bayern are placed, as the village belongs to Bayern since the early 14th century.
