History: First formed in 1945 as Radar Trials Unit. The Squadron reformed as a Commando Trials Unit in 1964 with Westland Wessex Helicopters.

Origin/meaning
The Winged Dagger symbolises the Commando Connection. The Latin Motto translates as "Let the sword not sleep". The Badge was approved in 1965, the design was altered in 1979.
