Origin/meaning

The old arms were granted on August 19, 1893. Already one year earlier, on November 7, 1892 the arms were granted, but by mistake the label was omitted. After the merger with the other municipalities in 1977 new arms were necessary. The council adopted the new arms in 1978, but the arms were officially granted on December 1st, 1980.

The arms are those of the Plotho family, Lords of Waregem since 1584 and Barons of Ingelmunster. They adopted these arms in the 17^th century. To distinguish the arms of the municipality from those of the family, the blue label had to be added.
