REIDEN
Canton : Luzern
Additions : 2006 Langnau bei Reiden; Richenthal
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The cross in the upper half symbolises the Chapter of the Order of St. John of Malta, which had its seat in Reiden and appointed the local priests. The lower half shows the town's initial. The oldest known image of the arms is shown on the map of Luzern from 1597 and only shows a silver cross in red. In the early 18th century the seals showed the present arms.
