Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 13, 1955 and reconfirmed on September 3, 1973.

The arms show the so-called gonfanon of the Palatinate Counts of Tübingen from the 12th century. The gonfanon is also seen in the arms of the city of Tübingen, but the arms of the district show the gonfanon on a spear. The silver and red colours also differ from the arms of the city, and are a symbol for the former County Hohenberg, which was an Austrian possession. Red and silver are the Austrian colours.
