BIBRA

State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Saale-Holzland Kreis
Additions : 1970s Zwabitz

Wappen von Bibra

Official blazon

In Grün ein nach rechts schreitendes silbernes Pferd, im Schildfuss einen kleinen goldenen Schild mit einer grünen Tanne.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 19, 2000.

The horse is taken from a 19th century seal of the village. The pine tree is taken from the seal of the former municipality Zwabitz. The green colour refers to the forests and meadows in the municipality.

The initial design for the arms was rather different, showing a beaver instead of the horse, see below.

The beaver is a canting element, which was also used in the 20th century seals of the village; the pine tree also referred to Zwabitz. The silver mountains refer to the Walpersberg, Hornissenberg and Auberg in the municipality.

These arms were never officially granted.
