Wappen von Berg (Germersheim)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 12, 1966.

The roses in the arms are taken from the previeous, non-official arms of Berg which showed three roses and the letter B (see below). These arms were derived from the oldest known seal of the village, dating from 1737. This seal was in use until at least 1781. The small shield shows the arms of the Pfalz, as the village already historically belonged to the Pfalz. The lower part shows a canting mountain (Berg), which was also used by the late-medieval Knights of Berg, who originated from the area.
