Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 6, 1819 confirmed on September 4, 1910 and again on May 10, 1995.

The arms show the patron saint of the village, St. Remigius. The saint also was shown on the seals of 1718 and 1723.

The village Baarle-Hertog is an enclave in the Netherlands, with 21 distinct (small) areas scattered in and around the twin village of Baarle-Nassau. The main part of the municipality, however, is in Belgium proper.

The colours are the Dutch national colours, as in 1813 the mayor applied without indicating the colours. The arms were thus granted in the national colours. When the arms were confirmed after the Belgian independence, the colours were not changed.
