VILLEMONTAIS

Département : Loire

Blason de Villemontais

Official blason

Parti: au 1er de gueules au griffon d'or, au 2e d'azur à la grappe de raisin d'or accompagnée de trois croissants d'argent; à la vergette d'or brochant sur le parti.

Origin/meaning

The griffin is taken from the arms of the Chapter of the Canons of the Counts of Lyon, to which the area belonged for a long period of time. The grapes refer to the importance of viticulture and the crescents are taken from the arms of the La Chaise family, later owners of the village.
