Arms of Ludvika

Official blazon

På blått fält en bandvis ställd ström av silver, belagd med en antik åska av fältets färg samt åtföljd på vardera sidan av en lilja av guld.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 30, 1920 and confirmed in 1971.

Ludvika is known since the 15th century and was in the 17th century a possession of Alex Lillie and in the 17th century it became a possession of the Cedercreutz family. Both these families used a lily in their arms, which is symbolised by the two lilies. The bend is the local river, which is used to generate hydro-electric power.
