Wappen von Oberhaid

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 20, 1967.

The arms are a combination of two elements; a wing from which an arm with cross appears and a small shield with a black cross. The winged arm is taken from the arms of the Michelsberg Abbey, the small shield is the arms of the Fulda Abbey. Already in the 8th century the Fulda Abbey owned large parts of the present municipality. In the 13th century most of the area was part of the Michelsberg Abbey. The two abbeys thus ruled the area for nearly 1000 years.
