Origin/meaning

The Castle Gate symbolises the Fortress City of Fredrikstad, where the District HQ was located. Blue is the main Colour of the Colour of the Østfold Infantry Regiment No 1. Which was the Regiment responsible for the District. The District is now disbanded.
