ŠIAULIAI (District)
County : Šiauliai
Villages : Šilėnai
Lithuanian | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on February 19, 2002.
The bear was taken from the arms of Samogitia: the Siauliai land is a part of historical and (partially) ethnical Samogitia.
The battle axe symbolizes the ancient victory against the Livonian Order in the Saule (Siauliai) battle in 1236.
The shield with crosses symbolizes both the famous Hill of Crosses and the readiness to protect Christian values. The golden color symbolizes nobility, and the black color symbolizes education and intelligence.
