Distinctive Unit Insignia. Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 inch (2.54 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Gules, a fleur-de-lis within a diminished bordure Or. Attached below the shield a Red scroll inscribed "WE PLAY THE GAME" in Gold letters.
Origin/meaning
The service of the 131st Field Artillery is indicated by the red shield. The fleur-de-lis symbolizes service in France during World War I. The diminished bordure indicates that the 131st Field Artillery was one of the younger members of its family - the World War I 36th Division.
The arms were originally approved for the 131st Field Artillery, Texas National Guard on 31 May 1928. It was redesignated for the 131st Field Artillery Battalion, Texas National Guard on 27 August 1942. It was redesignated for the 131st Artillery, Texas National Guard on 20 July 1960. The insignia was redesignated on 23 February 1973, for the 131st Field Artillery Regiment. It was redesignated with blazon and symbolism revised for the 131st Regiment, Texas Army National Guard on 27 October 1997. The insignia was redesignated for the 131st Field Artillery Regiment on 10 October 2000. The Distinctive Unit Insignia was originally approved for the 131st Field Artillery, Texas National Guard on 29 May 1928. It was redesignated for the 131st Field Artillery Battalion, Texas National Guard on 6 August 1942. It was redesignated for the 131st Artillery, Texas National Guard on 20 July 1960. The insignia was redesignated on 23 February 1973, for the 131st Field Artillery Regiment. It was redesignated with description and symbolism revised for the 131st Regiment, Texas Army National Guard on 5 November 1997. The insignia was redesignated for the 131st Field Artillery Regiment on 10 October 2000.
