Official blazon

Shield: Argent, a saltire Azure overall a prickly pear cactus entwined with a snake Or, a chief of the first bearing a pale Gules between two ermine spots Sable the Philippine sun Gold.
Crest: That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Kentucky Army National Guard: On a wreath of the colors Argent and Azure (Light Blue) within a garland of trumpet vine clasped hands clothed at the wrists all Proper.
Motto: ASSIGN US THE MISSION.

Distinctive Unit Insignia. Description: A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of a gold color Philippine sun surmounted by a blue disc. Overall in base a gold color metal serpent entwined above a gold color metal prickly pear cactus. Supporting the device a gold color metal scroll inscribed “ASSIGN US THE MISSION” in red letters.

Origin/meaning

Coat of Arms: Blue and white refer to Infantry. The saltire from the flag of the Confederacy stands for Civil War Service. The cactus and snake, from the Mexican flag, represent the unit’s Mexican War Service, and the two ermine spots, from the arms of Brittany and Nantes stand for World War I service in France. The Philippine sun commemorates World War II service for which the Regiment was awarded the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.

Distinctive Unit Insignia: The blue of the disc refers to Infantry. The cactus and serpent, from the flag of Mexico, represent service in the Mexican War. The Philippine sun alludes to service in the Pacific Theater, World War II, for which the unit was awarded the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.

The arms were approved on 6 June 1966. It was amended to correct the blazon of the crest on 1 August 1967. The Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 10 April 1967.
