Official blazon
Shield : Vert, on a cross argent, a tower of the field; on a chief or a bend gules.
Crest : On a wreath of the colors a trumpet palewise or.
Motto : "Brave Rifles! Veterans! You have been baptized in fire and blood and have come out steel."
Origin/meaning
The green field alludes to the original green facings of the Regiment's Uniforms. The Trumpet was used as Insignia by the Regiment.
The Cross alludes to the city of Vera Cruz in Mexico were the Regiment landed in 1847. It also took part in the capture of the City of Mexico,
whioch is indicated by the Tower. The Chief alludes to the Arms of Lorraine, and service there in World War I.
