ALOIS BREMS

Born : April 19, 1906
Deceased : February 16, 1987

Bishop of Eichstätt, 1968-1983

Arms of Alois Brems

Official blazon

Zwei Schilde; rechts der Eichstätter Krümmstab; links in Grün drei goldene Ähren über einer goldenen Traube

Origin/meaning

In tradition with his predecessors he used two shields, one with the diocesan arms and one with the personal arms. The personal arms with grains and grapes refer to the Holy Eucharist. He used the primary ingredients instead of the more common bread and wine, to emphasise his origin from a farmers' family.
