BARÃO DE ANTONINA

State : São Paulo

Arms of Barão de Antonina

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on February 1st, 1974.

The name of the city was derived from the first owner of the lands, José da Silva Machado, Baron of Antonina. The lion with the axe on its shoulder is derived from his personal arms. The other half shows a cross, symbolising the pacification of the Indians by Father Monte Falcão. The roses are the symbol of St. Theresa, patron saint of the city.

The shield is surrounded by corn and coffee branches, the main agricultural crops in the area.
