Origin/meaning

Blaubeuren received city rights in 1267 from Rudolf of Tübingen, Count of the Pfalz (Palatinate). In 1447 the city became a possession of Württemberg and the Counts of Württemberg granted the arms in 1471. There are no older seals or arms known. The meaning of the person is not known, the two antlers are derived from the arms of Württemberg.
