Portuguese Escudo de prata, aspa de vermelho ou cruz de Santo André, acompanhada em Chefe de uma espiga de milho de ouro, folheada a verde e nos flancos, de um morango vermelho com pedúnculo de verde, pé ondeado de três tiras azul, prata e verde. Coroa mural de três torres. Listel branco com a legenda a negro, em maiúsculas: “ CANIDELO - VILA NOVA DE GAIA “.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 25, 1996.

The cross is the symbol of St. Andrew, the local patron saint. The strawberries and the corn cob are symbols for the agricultural character of the parish. The base symbolises the Douro river and the Atlantic Ocean.
