Escudo de ouro, com uma vieira de vermelho entre duas espigas de centeio de verde, com os pés passados em aspa e atados de vermelho; em campanha, pano de muralha de negro, aberto e lavrado de prata e firmado. Coroa mural de prata de três torres. Listel branco, com a legenda a negro: “ CARAPEÇOS ”.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 5, 2003.

The scallop is the symbol of the patron saint, St. James. The ears of rye are a symbol for the agricultural character of the parish. The wall is a symbol for the historical fortress at Castro and the long history of the parish.
