Official blazon
Shield: Gules a Eagle displayed Or.
Crest: an arm vested azure holding a torch.
Motto: Fides ultra finem = Faithfulness beyond the end.
Origin/meaning
The Coat of Arms symbolises Fort Pickens, the main fortification of the Coastal Defenses of Pensacola. This was the only place within the boundaries of the Confederacy where the Union Flag flew during the whole Civil War.
