Official blazon

Gules, a Latin cross throughout of nine fusils conjoined, four in pale and five in fess, argent.

Origin/meaning

The diamonds (or lozenges) have been derived from the arms of Sir Walter Raleigh (1554-1618), after which the See city is named. His arms showed the lozenges in a bend, in the diocesal arms the lozenges have been placed in a Christian Cross.
