Official blazon

Vert above in base four barrulets dancetty to dexter a garb and to sinister a pick axe and spade reversed in saltire; in chief a circlet of twelve mullets all Or.

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 1994.

The Diocesan arms reflect the geography and industries of the Diocese. The gold barrulets at the base represent the mining induslry, the sheaf of wheat represents rural industry and the circlet of twelve stars is an attribute of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
