Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 23, 1992.
The arms are known since the 14th century and the meaning is not clear. The knight can be a symbol of vigilance of the city. The oldest seal of the city shows a city gate and a fleur-de-lys. The knight shows the arms and banner of Pommern, as the city rights were granted in 1249 by Duke Barnim I of Pommern.
