GEORGE RIGG
Born: July 19, 1814
Deceased: January 18, 1887
Bishop of Dunkeld, 1878-1887
English | blazon wanted |
Vert a saltire engrailed Argent between a star Argent in chief two garbs Or in flanks, the base quadrant Argent three roses Argent within a bordure Vert charged with eight crescents Argent.
Origin/meaning
The arms are shown in the St. Andrew's R.C. Cathedral, Dundee, but have probably been attributed; i.e. never used by the bishop itself.
The arms shown for Bishop Rigg are a version of the arms matriculated in Lyon Register 1672-77 by a Thomas Rigg of Riggsland.
