Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 7, 2001.

The key and the grill are the symbols of St. Peter and St. Lawrence, patron saints of the churches of Grossmonra and Burgwenden. The key also refers to the St. Peter's Abbey in Mainz, which had several possessions in the area. The tree branch is taken from the arms of the Counts of Werthem, who had an estate in Backleben. The wall refers to the old walls of the local churches, as well as the former Monraburg castle in the municipality.
